Thomas Deans Fine Art is an Atlanta mainstay in the art world. Established in 1983, the gallery specializes in contemporary paintings, contemporary and historical works on paper, and selected sculpture and photography by American and international artists, from emerging to highly established.

Coming up on their 40th Anniversary, Thomas Deans felt a rebrand would better position the gallery moving forward and enhance their digital properties and social sharing.

With this in mind, Play pulled in the gallery’s history, their represented artists, the consumer audience and competitive landscape for the discovery phase. From there, Play embarked on our tried and true process of Brandscapes and exploratory design.

See the new Thomas Deans Fine Art logo below applied in positive and negative space. Additionally, it is shown applied to the a hand-full of artists represented by the gallery. When choosing the winning the logo, a choice from many created, Thomas walked the gallery and placed the 6”x6” logo board next to each painting. The logo below worked well with them all.

 
 
 

“This logo pays homage to Thomas Deans Fine Art’ history with its start in British Art. We took this elegant, European foundation, applied it to typography and then reduced the form for a contemporary feel. In the end, we arrived at a logo mark that empowers Thomas Deans Fine Art.”
